The Thousand Trails Adventure Membership Upgrade was just released! It’s the first new membership product in several years and as far as we know- it’s completely replaced the previously available Thousand Trails Odyssey Membership Upgrade.
With the super secret launch leading up to the big day, the internet was buzzing with big questions around the what the Thousand Trails Adventure Membership Upgrade would really entail.

What is a Thousand Trails Adventure Membership Upgrade
Let’s start with a brief over view of Thousand Trails.
Its a membership camping club that offers cheap camping at 81 Thousand Trails Campgrounds and over 100 additional ‘Encore’ resorts throughout the US and Canada.
Offering different levels of memberships and upgrades based on time inside the system, access to specific parks, and things like family passes and reciprocal programs.
The Thousand Trails Adventure Membership Upgrade is the newest membership options and promises to be the biggest and best option, especially or full-time RVers looking to lower their camping cost with the most variety!

Upgrading to the Thousand Trails Adventure Membership
First, let me just say- you pretty much have to have a Zone Pass to be eligible for any upgrade. In fact, you won’t see upgrade options, until after you have a Zone Pass- unless you a post like this or one of these- where someone has spelled out all the details.
Zone Passes are the gate way to camping with Thousand Trails and they have a reoccurring yearly fee called ‘dues’ which range from a few hundred dollars to about $600.
If you upgrade to The Thousand Trails Adventure Membership Upgrade, your dues will come with you without increasing. Thats good news! So what ever you’re currently paying for your annual dues- will still be the amount you’re paying for annual dues after the upgrade!
Thousand Trails Adventure Membership Upgrade Benefits Explained
- Access to all 81 Thousand Trails Campgrounds
- Ability to camp for 21 nights at each location.
- Move park-to-park without time required out the system.
- Ability to book 180 days in advance (longest reservation window available)
- Unlimited camping inside the park system with no additional fees.

- 4 additional ‘buy out’ weeks to extend your stay for just $29
- 2 high usage weeks at $99 week to stay at the best parks in peak season longer

Adding the Trails Collection or the Trails Collection Plus
The Trails collection is an add-on!
It opens up your camping ability to include access to another 100+ additional RV parks and campgrounds throughout the year for $315 per year.
You’ll be able to stay 14 days at 100+ Encore parks, and I have to tell you- it’s totally worth it even though you have to alternate your stays.
The Trails Collection Plus is another story!
While any Thousand Trails member can add the Trails Collection to their existing membership, only Thousand Trails Adventure Memberships can add the Trails Collection Plus!
Its a game changer-
Enjoy access to 100+ parks with the same benefits as your Adventure Membership! Meaning stay 21 days at each park, move from one Trails Collection Park to another, and spend absolutely no time out the system for any reason!
You’ll also enjoy a longer reservation window of 90 to these parks, meaning you’ll be able to book your stays before anyone with out the Thousand Trails Adventure Membership- making sure you get a reservation at the rigs park during the right time!

This add-on is $615 a year and totally worth it!
Trails Collection Plus Benefits:
- Do you want to be the ultimate snowbird and spend time hanging out all winter in the sunbelt (Texas, Florida, and Arizona)? This upgrade is for you!
- Do you want to visit the best parks along the West Coast and the Pacific Northwest? This membership is for you!
- Do you want to bounce between Encore locations in New England next summer? This membership is for you!
Personally I’ve always recommended most people buy the Elite Membership Upgrade. It’s what my family currently uses’ and I find it includes enough for cheap full-time rv living with a good amount of variety for the cheapest cost!!!
I stand by that. The Elite Basic is all you need.
But if you want to move around less and have more options for the winter the Adventure Membership comes in handy. Also if you love the Encore parks and want to spend all your time in them, rather than the Thousand Trails Campgrounds- the Adventure Membership Upgrade makes sense.
Trails Collection Plus Recap
- Staying 21 days at each park. Means you have to move your RV less often than those on the basic Trails Collection.
- Booking 90 days in advance. Means booking your reservations 30 days farther out than people with the basic Trails Collection.
- Going Park-to-Park. Mean you don’t have to switch up your stays with non TT or Encore Parks. You can stay exclusively at Encore Parks, which sometimes tend to be nicer than the Thousand Trails Parks.
Why these benefits matter?
The Benefits of the Trails Collection Plus give you the upper hand. With so many Thousand Trails members, you’ll have the longest reservation window to make sure you get the reservations you want, when and where you want them.
It also lets you skip around prime locations like the PNW, New England, and Snowbird States during the peak seasons!
So How much is an Adventure Membership?
I know- it’s killing you!
The Adventure Membership sounds amazing and you’re ready to get started. The only thing left is cover the price. How much does a Thousand Trails Adventure Membership cost?
The final price of the Adventure Membership will be based on what membership you are upgrading from. So, if you have a zone pass you’ll pay one price and if you had say a EliteBasic you’ll pay something else.
I think it’s safe to say that since the Elite Basic is about $6K-7K this membership would be in the range of $12K-$15K and that will of course depend on which promotional offer you catch.
People who buy this membership are most likely wanting more flexibility, more campground options, and more time spent in popular destinations during the peak seasons.
Membership pricing is not public- probably because it varies so much. The best way to get exact pricing or any real price not based on estimation- you should contact Jim & Brandy and let them work their magic.
And a good thing to know about whatever price tag you get with any membership is that monthly payments are available and do not require a credit check. So you can end up paying $200-$300 a month for full-time RV living…
